Social activites for Erasmus students...

...vary a lot depending on which University a student is signed up in.
Students from Chalmers have a really good Erasmus programme, bastards :( From day one of the arrival for two weeks, there was a social activity every day, like parties, picnics, karaoke, sauna party... Anything you wish for, but most of them take 60 krones fee, which is like 6 evr.
The students from Göteborg University have a bit poorer social programme. Again it depends on which department you belog to. If you study Bussines and Economics, there is a lot of parties organized, if you study Computer Science, like myself, then you are pretty much left out from most of the fun. I can say we did´t have organized any party, all the parties we attended were general parties organized by ESS, Erasmus Student Service, which means two parties per week with lots of international people. Which is great, but I still miss the parties with my Chalmers classmates, who are having extra fun :( So in that way one advice for future Erasmus students, apply to Chalmers University, since you will get a much better service

But of course, all is good when you meet some people, who invite you to their parties and then at the end it doesn´t reall matter what you study :) Just one photo from the Mexican party.

Now it might sound like I only party here, that is not true at all, since my BEST experience, I enjoy much more spending time with my boyfriend and his friends :)

As you can see, we have sun in Sweden, although the weather can change in a minute.

From a sunny Sunday it became cloudy Sunday with 12 degrees celsius. But still we had a nice picnic with Erasmus students from FFS Student Union (including my department).

Being a student in Göteborg

There is one big difference in being a student in Sweden or in Slovenia, here students are not treated like shit, nobody gives you poor service. Most of the students here are a part of the Student Union, which takes care of all student related issues. A Student Union is run by students for students. In our campus, Chalmers campus, there is a Student Union building with gym, sauna, swimming pool, pool, cafeteria, book shop... basically everything a student could ask for. As an erasmus student I am not obligated to pay the Student Union fee, which is 300 SEK (30 evr) per semester.

Sport activities are also very well organized for students. Just accross my dormitory there is a sport center Fysiken, where I can play ball sports, take dance and aerobic classes every day. For the use of the center I pay only 550 SEK per 3 months, for this I can join all sport activites as much as I want. Rowing is also a very popular sport among Swedish students.

I live in a dormitory for master students, situated near Chalmers campus, so I have 10 min on foot to my faculty. The rent is 3400 SEK/month, included electricity, heating, internet connection, laundry room and the use of a swimming pool and sauna in the ground floor. The only thing I miss in this dormitory is a common place to hang out, there is a pub near the sauna, but most students hang out in their rooms.
In the first week I had to the a "little" shopping for the house (kitchen equipment, bed covers...) it cost me 800 SEK in IKEA, but I bought really everything I need and discovered cheap IKEA chocolate :)
